Remote Desktop to Windows 8 machine disconnects after login

I've been trying to remote into my Surface Pro Windows 8 machine from my work (Windows 7 enterprise) machine and it's been hit or miss.  I have been able to get in before.  But for some reason I can't get in anymore.

On my Windows 7 machine, I go to remote desktop, type in my Surface Pro's (Win 8) machine's name.  It prompts me for my password.  I type it in and log in.  I can see the desktop of the Surface Pro, but then I get disconnected.

I have gone into Device Manager and changed the power management setting for the network adapter so that the computer can't turn off the wireless adapter (Unchecked "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power").  When I did this a few days ago, I restarted the machine and it worked for the rest of the day.  The next day it stopped working.

I have changed the power options on the device to high performance so that it doesn't shut down the network adapter.

But the network adapter still seems to shut down after logging into the machine.  I say this because I can see on the lock screen of the Surface Pro that there is limited wireless connections (wireless bars with * above it) after I log in from my Win 7 machine.

I have tried changing the require Network level Authentication setting on the Win 8 machine and it doesn't make a difference.

Not sure what else I can do.  Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Dennis.
