I am a newbie to RDS server, and have a problem that is becoming more than a nuisance.
Background info - Server 2008 Standard - RDS server - 2 XEON E5620 2.4 Ghz CPU's, 24 gig ram.
Server is used in-office via WYSE Terminals.
We use the server to access remote systems at various client sites. There are multiple types of remote access clients/processes used: RDP, Citrix, Sonicwall Global VPN, Cisco VPN, and https web connections.
A few weeks ago, one of the RDP sites became unreachable from the WYSE devices. However, the PC's in the same dept were unaffected. Initially to get to this particular site, I had to create a static route on the Term server (as well as on each PC). (Firewall route was problematic).
I rebooted the RDS server and all was well. These connection losses are becoming more frequent. I have created a batch file (as a test) to reapply the route so I won't have to reboot. I haven't tried it yet.
I haven't seen any error logs that strictly coincide with this connection loss. but there is a recurring system event log error that may be related (this event occurs even when the connection still works) SYSTEM - NetBT - ID 4319 - duplicate name on the network. I found that there is a LAN network adapter (Virtual adapter) that confuses me. The IP address called out in the event error is the address of the virtual network adapter on the RDS server. I cannot delete (greyed out) this virtual adapter - I believe it's related to licensing, as I disabled it for a few minutes and got reports of license error messages on the WYSE connections to the server.
There are a total of 25 RDP connections to the server right now.
Any Ideas?
