After rebooting, I couldn't get past a new Windows 2003 Server banner screen, which I had never seen before. After many power down reboots I noticed my arrow cursor was an I. When I moved it the cursor changed back to an arrow. By moving
around on screen I found a one line typing window and a larger multiline window. Figured out it wanted to know why it had been shutdown. After typing in a reason (blindly as nothing showed) I was able to get the server booted up to what should have been the
login window. There again I found the username and password typing windows with the I cursor and was able to login. Since then no login window comes up either at the console or in terminal services. If you don't have your username and password defaulted
in remote desktop you have a real problem getting in. This banner screen is black all over and centered is a cinematic style Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition banner with a thin fading blue to orange to blue ribbon at the bottom that some times runs across
but is stationary when awaiting logon. Below that are the username and password typing windows that are only detectable by moving the cursor across them until it changes from an arrow to an I. I have no problem getting in now that I know what to
do, but my users are very disconcerted with the whole thing and are very vocal about it. I need a fix for this crazy problem. Thanks
