Maximum password length for Remote Desktop Login Screen

Hi All,

When I connect to my server via Remote Desktop, the window that asks for my password only allows me to enter 128 characters. The problem is that the "set password" screen while connected to the server allows more characters than that. I copy/pasted a very long string into the set password screen while logged in and now, since I can't enter more than 128 characters into the RDS login window, I cannot connect to my server via RDS.

Of course, it's easy to say, "Don't use a password longer than 128 characters." Well, I only realized this was the problem, because I counted the characters in the password box. I am surprised no one else has had this problem. If the RDS maximum password length is 128 characters, it should be the same on the set password screen from the user management console while logged in.

I believe this is a problem that should be resolved from within the windows system, preferably in the Remote Desktop login screen by simply removing the 128 character maximum length on the password text box. If that can't happen, then the set password field when logged in, should also have a maximum length of 128. It needs to be the same across the board to prevent this scenario from happening.

As it is now, I'm locked out of my computer on the other side of the planet so if my tone in this post is a bit terse, I apologize. I know it's optimistic to hope Microsoft will release a windows update removing the 128 character maximum on the RDS login screen, but alas, that will get me out of my current predicament.

If anyone has any suggestions like hacking the registry, I'm all ears! ... or eyes as the case may be.

Thank you for your time.
